And then I read this book, and was slightly sad I'd spent all that time preparing. Not because I don't LOVE Oryx and Crake (and slightly less The Year of the Flood) but because then this one was "meh".

Did like all the bits about "fuck", though. That was Mags providing some pretty solid giggles.Chelseahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00215208937693642069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-32548256284488162412013-12-06T16:15:02.803+00:002013-12-06T16:15:02.803+00:00I should...I should prob read the other books in t...I should...I should prob read the other books in this trilogy and then see about finishing it. Even if I agree with you it'll be okay because I was prepared (and even if it's not great it's still Atwood!!!), and if I disagree with you it'll make me even happier! :DJimjamjennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02249933703532348607noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-16400526519012153102013-12-05T20:43:39.542+00:002013-12-05T20:43:39.542+00:00Yes! All of those things you just said! Definitely not what we were expecting though, huh? Lol. But no, actually that is good, especially cause now, you might really like it and be like OMG IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN LAURA SAID! Is my advice.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-8139924902009377752013-12-05T16:50:51.947+00:002013-12-05T16:50:51.947+00:00This review... it's like you crawled into my b...This review... it's like you crawled into my brain, took all my thoughts about Maddaddam, and said them better than me. I wanted to LOVE LOVE LOVE this, and I LIKED it, but didn't LOVE it, and found it was slower and not as interesting as I wanted, but like you said, it's still Atwood, and it's still part of the Maddaddam world, so "not as interesting as I wanted" was still interesting and good, just... not what I expected.Kerry Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10624436758426097032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-63595109339096314872013-12-05T00:19:15.485+00:002013-12-05T00:19:15.485+00:00As you know I loooove Margaret atwood, so I'm ...As you know I loooove Margaret atwood, so I'm happy to have read this and lowered my expectations of the book :) I honestly mean that! There's nothing worse (ok so there probably are worse things, but meh) than going into a book by a favourite author and being disappointed, and I think you've hopefully saved me from that.
