All I would say about it with that in mind is that The Dark Tower is not necessarily like King in his most natural state (i.e. horror writing) but having said that, it's still some of his best stuff so, yeah, go with it! If you want something more horror-y though, I'd go with It, cause it's the best thing of all the best ever things!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-87298563210936056152012-03-20T22:32:56.211+00:002012-03-20T22:32:56.211+00:00See we are very different people! This could all change on this reading though, so we'll see! The Drawing of the Three remains awesome (clearly) though, and is possibly my favourite in the series... I don't know. The seventh book is kind of amazing too. IT'S JUST ALL GOOD!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-24609856063914542232012-03-20T20:27:14.923+00:002012-03-20T20:27:14.923+00:00I have heard so many good things about the Dark To...I have heard so many good things about the Dark Tower series. I only read my first Stephen King this year (11/22/63) and really loved it. I'm thinking this series will have to be my next.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10780185535345559390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-59095509623617441782012-03-19T17:17:47.114+00:002012-03-19T17:17:47.114+00:00I like to think of The Gunslinger as a prologue to...I like to think of The Gunslinger as a prologue to the series and The Drawing of the Three as the first proper book.

The Dark Tower series kind of reminds me of the Star Wars movies. The original trilogy was pretty great (Gunslinger through The Waste Lands) and then the final trilogy (Wolves of the Calla through The Dark Tower) started bad, got worse and then finished strong. I'm leaving out Wizard and Glass because it's more of a prequel than the other books. But I think the analogy fits.

FWIW, I love Eddie. I think as a character he has the strongest arc and the most growth. I loved watching his character really embrace the goodness that's at his center while also becoming kind of a bad-ass.Brookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02748178730844113883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-65726724723137200892012-03-19T16:46:48.445+00:002012-03-19T16:46:48.445+00:00Yay!
