I like your comment about foreshadowing in a book stressing you out, I'd never really thought of it that way but it kind of takes advantage of the emotions you'd invested in the book... or something like that haha.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-52030130135405708472011-07-08T01:21:38.301+01:002011-07-08T01:21:38.301+01:00Hmmm, but isn't foreshadowing part of building...Hmmm, but isn't foreshadowing part of building up the tension? But then there is some merit in those too. I just prefer the blog hops that are about more generalised parts of novels than the little languagey bits!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-64128359044418546912011-07-07T21:52:42.565+01:002011-07-07T21:52:42.565+01:00I'm with you. I don't think enough about how the author is doing what he does as he crafts the novel -- I just think about how the book works or doesn't work for me. But going back to these techniques is a good way of thinking about what the novelist is doing or trying to do.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07567954521782974033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-87219665908004331022011-07-07T21:38:12.756+01:002011-07-07T21:38:12.756+01:00I think foreshadowing was one of my early favorite...I think foreshadowing was one of my early favorite devices. I remember being able to identify it pretty well. Great when it is done well, but it can be clumsy in amateur hands.

Check out my post here.LBChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08565867574821169945noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-66891053288974594842011-07-07T21:12:50.273+01:002011-07-07T21:12:50.273+01:00Nice. It's kind of like foreshadowing, except it doesn't hint at what will happen in the future, but alludes to all the possibilities that could happen in a given moment. It's awesome.

Thanks for joining the Hop!IngridLolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16079137600900264656noreply@blogger.com
