Cos I'm a 13 year old boy at heart.Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456600806188531803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-2095372662237549232011-09-22T15:30:42.433+01:002011-09-22T15:30:42.433+01:00This is so not my type of book, so why I loved it ...This is so not my type of book, so why I loved it so much, I cannot say. I have read a few of Winterson's other books but none of them were able to grab my attention. I do still need to read Oranges are not the Only Fruit though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-46837479505372877412011-09-22T15:14:30.010+01:002011-09-22T15:14:30.010+01:00Emma Donoghue is a lesbian? But not as annoying as this book!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-28917134679426515272011-09-22T14:20:12.062+01:002011-09-22T14:20:12.062+01:00"because I really couldn't feel anything ..."because I really couldn't feel anything for characters that seemed more like symbols than actual people I could relate to"<br /><br />Yes! This is also why literature-as-message doesn't work, because the characters feel forced and unreal.<br /><br />I'm not a Winterson girl, and the issues I had with Oranges sound like they carry over a bit here. This is why I stick with good ol' Sarah Waters and occasionally Emma Donoghue for my lesbian lit.Reading Rambohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12614467198216577755noreply@blogger.com
