Now I'm through 5 season and I went back and read your post. I'm with you on your summaries of the seasons. I love Stringer Bell and Omar and Bubbles! The lack of women was a bit ridiculous, though I liked Amy Ryan, especially in season 2. I think in the end the reason I liked the show is because it was so layered and you realize everyone has a bot of good and bad in them. A huge factor in determining which triumphs is what their childhood situation is like. Anyway, I'm grateful there are TV shows out there that still make you think.Melissa (Avid Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02119628715475021774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-40904824167955206862013-07-01T21:17:39.751+01:002013-07-01T21:17:39.751+01:00Dude, there are SO too many shows people get excit...Dude, there are SO too many shows people get excited about. I mean, I watch a SHOCKING amount of TV and I can't keep up with the amount of things I want to watch and I want to WATCH IT ALL DAMMIT! I do love sitcoms (and yessss, so short!) but somehow my brain doesn't count them as, like, worthy of epic-watchingness even when I watch about 6 of them in a row. Does this even make sense? I don't think so!

I haven't seen the Trapped in the Closet videos, but I have heard parts of the song and that shit is CRAZY. And not even really in the good way! But still, LOL. I enjoy that Omar is in them though... Yeah. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH WHY DO I LOVE THIS MURDERY PERSON?!

And DUDE, I genuinely freaked out when I read the email version of this comment (you know what I mean right? The notification email thing?) because BREAKING BAAAAAAAAAAAD! It's genuinely my favourite TV show ever. EVER. I'm so excited that the honeyman is making you watch it (that's basically what's happening here, right? Haha) Oh GOD the emotions. I think *I* need to watch it again, apparently! Ugh there...I... might watch The Wire eventually. Ugh there's just TOO MANY SHOWS that people get excited about and I can't keep up. And the illogical, stubborn part of me drags my feet so hard when it comes to starting hour-long dramas instead of 25-minute sitcoms. I love me some sitcoms.

BTW, have you seen the R. Kelly Trapped in the Closet videos? Cause that Omar guy is in them and that's the only thing I've ever seen him in, lol. (Also, those videos are ridiculous and stupid and hilarious.)

Apparently I'm going to start watching Breaking Bad though. The honeyman watch the first couple episodes yesterday and was telling me about it and I guess I'm to catch up so it can be our new show to watch together. And it PAINS me that there are no women (although- Breaking Bad has like 5 main characters, and 2 of them are women, the two main characters in The Sopranos are a man and a woman [it's up for debate, but I consider Tony's psychiatrist the other core character] and PEGGY AND JOAN ARE THE SOUL OF MAD MEN) or, ok, less women than men in them, but that doesn't stop them from being excellent and I wouldn't change them. BASICALLY what needs to happen is that there need to be more shows, and people need to be comfortable writing a drama series where a woman gets to be in charge in some way. But that doesn't stop these shows being excellent.

Also, dude, there are like 2 women in The West Wing! (it is still the best though. And, I mean, one of those women is *CJ*)

Of the four, I would say that The Wire is the WORST for not having women in it, tbh, but it is still excellent, like I have said! I like Idris Elba maybe a little TOO much, since I've only seen him playing a big old drug kingpin person. But yeah, handsome is right! Also he's English and it makes me proud :)Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-43613107435973580022013-06-27T20:07:51.391+01:002013-06-27T20:07:51.391+01:00I really and truly believe that it's not as am...I really and truly believe that it's not as amazing everyone says it is, BUT it is still awesome enough to write this much about. And this is A LOT (some might say too much! But I am not one of those people). If it helps, I think the characters get LESS likeable as the series goes on, so to start with you don't know yet that they're all assholes. So that's good! And DUDE, there are literally like 2 lady characters who are in all the seasons. It is BAD.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-58617853073504750942013-06-27T17:04:09.979+01:002013-06-27T17:04:09.979+01:00"The Wire, along with The Sopranos, Mad Men, ..."The Wire, along with The Sopranos, Mad Men, and Breaking Bad"

NONE OF WHICH I WATCH. Because you know what those shows are, with some random character exceptions? Men, men and more men. So fuck you, commonly accepted best shows. (West Wing is the best and an excellent replacement)

I will, however, someday watch The Wire. Because my profs all love it and I love them. And also Idris Elba is a handsome man.Reading Rambohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12614467198216577755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-52265645651487754872013-06-27T16:36:02.021+01:002013-06-27T16:36:02.021+01:00I still haven't seen the Wire. Although a full cast of unlikeable characters AND no ladies makes it harder for me to get started. But I will!Redhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16456600806188531803noreply@blogger.com
