But I equally (and maybe a bit more) like it when he somehow makes people admit things that they really didn't mean to :)

Also, he is coming back! I think in June, he's doing a sort of follow up to his weird weekends documentary on porn, which should obviously be very exciting lol!Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-67402073115011172882012-05-04T16:01:27.794+01:002012-05-04T16:01:27.794+01:00I really like Louis too - but I have to admit, I t...I really like Louis too - but I have to admit, I think her's better dealing with people who have an unusual or uncomfortable agenda (the white supremicists or criminals that you mention). His style gets the most from documentaries like that, and befuddled way he poses criticisms really brings out some interesting responses. In contrast, the two documentaries that have just run (this and autism) could have been presented by anyone for me. There wasn't anything wrong with them, but I felt they didn't make the most of Louis's abilities as a documentary maker. Hey ho, hope he's back soon :)Matthew Selwynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00723650905588749638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-57915064889043528582012-04-27T18:11:49.182+01:002012-04-27T18:11:49.182+01:00Well. A lot of it was in this like residential home for people with dementia, so obviously their family members had been sort of released of the responsibility. But there was one woman whose mother had just moved in, and she was saying how it was difficult because she had to be the mother and they both HATED that. But mostly I think he'd found people who were just wonderful! Or at least didn't let their frustration show on TV. But in husband and wife pairings, it was just like 'I love her and I just want to take care of her and know she's safe' although with the 49 year old woman, she was a bit frustrated that she couldn't be trusted to be at home alone, but at the same time understood that that was just her husband looking to protect her.

I was totally surprised that it wasn't harder to watch! I mean, I was choked up for most of the programme, but that wasn't just because it was so sad, but also because their families were so lovely! I think he could have gone with a much more depressing like 'these people have been forgotten by their families and left alone and stuff' angle, but this was a lot more of an uplifting kind of thing.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17371636785566309578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6275165298547340568.post-51163961618773180142012-04-27T18:01:03.984+01:002012-04-27T18:01:03.984+01:00This sounds wonderful and also I'm surprised i...This sounds wonderful and also I'm surprised it wasn't harder to watch. Did Theroux go into how frustrating it can be for the family caring for someone with dementia? Not in a mean "what's wrong with these people" way but just in a "this is a trying situation for everyone" thing.

I absolutely would have guessed FL was the retirement capital.
