Sunday Sundries: Wrapping a few things up, Starting something new

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
Once again I have to go to work for I am a FOOL so I'm super grumpy about that. ALSO once again, I haven't taken photos of my room because it was tidy for about a day, then I went to my parents' house and my mum made me sort loads of stuff that I left behind and I had to bring it back here and I haven't put it away yet because of reasons.
It was. Probably.
But it's fine because I have other things to report on and also I don't have anything particularly interesting to write about for next week so that is when it shall be. (I will basically just promise you a room tour, weekly, until I actually do it, ok? Cool.)

So! The things to wrap up. FIRSTLY: There was a Halloween Ninja Book Swap! It was AWESOME.
See, see! I am ridiculously late in posting about this because it's been nearly three weeks since I got this (I KNOW. I am terrible) in the post from Hanna who is miraculous and wonderful and THE BEST and knew exactly what I wanted better than myself, clearly! So obviously you can see this from the photo, but there's Orange is the New Black in book form which I am REALLY excited to read because you KNOW I loved the TV show (I've talked about that, right?)
and and and then there's ALSO The Chronicles of Narmo which is the novel Caitlin Moran wrote when she was like 15 (I know. Precocious or what?) and I have read it already and it is AMAZING and it's the kind of book where I knew I wanted it but I may never have bought it and yeah. SO GOOD. And also also all that chocolate, which I have somehow managed not to eat all of yet (I know! I have seriously only eaten the orange chocolate one) and a lovely letter and it was just the best ever best thing and I love it and seriously, this ninja book swap thing is the BEST, and you should allllll do it.

So that's the one thing, and thank you again, Hanna, for your amazingness (ALSO- there is another book! That's she's going to send me! Which is crazy because whaaaat she already gave me two books! I know.) THE OTHER THING:
RIP VIII! That was a thing that happened. And that only finished a few days ago, so I am right on time with this one. The thing with RIP VIII is that, even though I feel like I didn't really read any books for it, I actually read a fair few books for it (as in, way more than the four that the challenge basically asks for) it's just that, compared to the last couple of years (where I read ALL THE BOOKS for RIP) it was kind of under-achievementy. It fell short of my usual standards, shall we say? We shall, for I just typed that.

But anyway. I did read things for RIP VIII, and here are all my reviews, conveniently gathered in one place:
(Presented in rainbow form so they're less scary and stuff)
So yeah, I've kind of cheated because I finished The Cuckoo's Calling and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon in August BUT I reviewed them in September so IT COUNTS and also The Girl trilogy thing was three books that had one review so I had to make up the numbers somehow.

And that is basically everything up to date. Yeah! And then there's the new thing I'm starting, and that, my friends is NaNoWriMo. Which, if you don't know, is National Novel Writing Month, wherein people who are insane attempt to write 50,000 words in November, and... I am one of those insane people. The thing I'm basically saying here is, I don't know how much I'm going to be bloggering this month because of all the other writing (last year I did the LEAST blogging in November of all the months, so yeah) but it'll be fine and you'll all survive. I may not. And possibly nor will my self esteem, but I will have a really bad novel written! Yeah!

So yeah, that's me. What are you doing with your entire November?

  1. Hmmm I don't think I've heard you mention this Orangey-Black show, and it's funny you say? *tries to hide silly grin on face*

I still haven't gotten my ninja gift :-( this is the biggest problem with living in Australia, everything takes so looooong to get here. Plus the summer thunderstorms have started so I keep stressing I'll get home to a ruined package. I'm a ball of nerves is what I'm saying.

    1. I'm going to slightly break with Ninja rules here, given that it's now November, and say I SENT IT, KAYLEIGH. Never fear, it really should be on its way, you didn't get a duff Ninja or anything. I sent it airmail (because yeah, Other Mail takes forever) and when it finally arrives I HOPE YOU LOVE IT. :)

    2. Awwww, now I'm hoping for a happy end to this story where Kayleigh gets the package TOMORROW and it *hasn't* been in a storm and everything is cool!

ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, KAYLEIGH!!! Forever. WHY ISN'T THERE A NEW SERIES YET OMG

  2. Woooooow, you're NaNoWriMo-ing? I'm sorry, there's no way I can even type that without feeling a slight urge to cringe. The NaNoWriMo-ing part, not the you doing it part. I just cannot even FATHOM the motivation required to write a NOVEL IN A MONTH, and also do productive things like work and eat and sleep. Crazy people, the lot of you. I AM, however, willing to overlook this and also your lack of bloggeriness IF you dedicate this novel to your blog wife AND if November 12 is awesome. :)

YAAAAY ALL THE R.I.P SHIZZLE! And hurry up with that room/blog tour, you can totally write THAT post in little bits when you need a break from ALL THE WRITING, so there's really no excuse. I WANT TO SNOOP, LAURA. :D

    1. I am NaNoWriMo-ing. I feel pretty stressed when I think 'FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS IN A MONTH OMFG?!' But you really just have to take it day by day and not expect too much from yourself (translation- I suck at writing SO BAD. But I liiiiike it!) Um, OBVS November 12th is going to be awesome Ellie, that's not even a question! Jeez.

I ammmmm going to write that post! I just need to re-tidy my room cause girlfriend needs to look GOOD, ya know? (I did indeed just refer to my bedroom as 'girlfriend'. It's probably best not to ask.) But yeah, anyway, just need to take photos and then that post is going to be so simple lol.

  3. You are clearly an R.I.P. master, even if you feel like it wasn't that much.

NaNoWriMo is something insane that I cannot even comprehend, and I feel very lucky that I have absolutely no desire to write a novel. I can barely write an interesting blog post. So good luck to you in your massive writing endevours! I'm pretty sure that I would love to read a novel by you.

    1. I know right?! I'm secretly good at doing RIP even when I'm not, like, reading 11 books over two months (which is what I did last year, I think!) But yeah, it's fiiine.

Thank youuu for your luck giving! I'm pretty bad at writing, but I feel like this is a good exercise for me, and it kind of FORCES me to write fiction, you know? (only, in a less scary way than that sounds...) And awwww, you are so sweet! I wish I could write novels well (I am really bad at, like, structuring. And also writing. You know, ALL THE PARTS.) so you could read them!

    1. Awwwww, thank you my lovely cheerleader! I can definitely write all those words, it's just... They're not going to be GOOD words. But still, I SHALL PERSEVERE!

I need to read it first, man! I'm thinking I might try and read it this month though, cause I keep reading fiction and going 'ooh, that's a good device, maybe I'll use that when I Wri my No', and then I end up missing chunks of the story! So yeah. Non-fiction may be the way to go in November (non-fiction November... Hmm!)

  6. So that's the one thing, and thank you again, Hanna, for your amazingness (ALSO- there is another book! That's she's going to send me.

Oh, you mean that book I TOTALLY HAVE NOT SENT YET? Yeah, I'm really, really sorry. I've been at court for 8:30am every morning and I'm not leaving until 6pm... is it okay if I give it to you next week? I know I'm crap but I've barely seen SUNLIGHT for a fortnight lol.

I'm Nano-ing too... as of today! I always planned to do it this year as I have an idea in my head and everything, but today is the first day I've not had stuff to prepare for the following day.

    I'm whining again, aren't I? Sorry.

But I figure that if you don't write 50,000 words but still write more than you would otherwise, you still win! :D In my head, anyway.

Although lots of things happen in my head, so that's probably not the safest validation.

    1. It is OF COURSE totally fine if you give it to me next week! I fully support the saving of postage, to the extent that I'm ALSO giving Bex her book that she sent to me back next week, so yeah. THRIFTY is the way to go.

YAAAAAAAAAAY NaNo-ing! Yesssss Hanna! I totally agree that you definitely write more words than, you know, none (I honestly write basically no fiction all the rest of the year, which gives me pause) and it's not all about winning, except for me because I won last year and I totally want to do it again. But I have issues when it comes to finishing things and stuff. Bad Laura.

Most of the things in my life happen in my head, I wouldn't worry about it too much. OR WOULD I?!

    2. What's your username? I'm bookinginheels, cause I'm original like that.

I've never got further than 8,000 words but then I gave up on my plot idea last time. Although I'm now on 413 so... yay me? :s

    3. Mine is LauraRowsell, because I'm even more original than you, Hanna! 413 words is better than what you had yesterday, so yay you indeed.
